Hello! My name is Kyung (pronounced k-young) and I am an illustrator and graphic designer based in New York City.
My main focus is to represent important stories and various communities through art and design, and having fun! I am deeply interested in using art and design as a primary ally to literature and journalism. This is probably because I was raised by a journalist mother who put food on the table by writing. I believe when the right design and the right text meet, amazing and productive things can happen.
I was born and raised in Seoul until the age of twelve when I immigrated to the states. Illustration and design is my American dream--as much as that sounds corny.
I graduated from School of Visual Arts for MFA in Illustration as visual essays. I also graduated from California College of the Arts in San Francisco with a BFA in Illustration.
My work has been recognized by Society of Illustrators and American Illustration. Clients include Pomelo Studio, UC Berkeley's Islamophobia Studies Journal, Layers Studios, and Fast Company.
Feel free to holler at me! My name means bright, and I am friendly.
